The two units of the LSWLP provide a low energy work-life model for the 21st century. They demonstrate the values implicit in a low-carbon work- / lifestyle in anticipation of the inevitable growth of the low carbon economy as gas and electricity prices rise.

The Project seeks to inspire and inform, and to introduce people to living more sustainably by leading by example. It endeavours to do this by:-

- providing a demonstration model for low energy working and living

- providing a model for affordable ecologically sound housing

- placing the Project in the public arena as an exemplar of environmentally responsible development

- disseminating the Project’s environmental performance data to the public domain so as to inform regional and national policy, and encourage the development of sustainable rural communities

The LSWLP is an exemplar project for sustainable living and construction in which very low energy consumption without loss of comfort is axiomatic and zero mechanical heating the holy grail.
