The Writtle College Gateway Building stands at the entrance to Writtle’s Rural Business Centre (RBC) . It is a low energy consumption demonstration project which will set a benchmark against which all future Higher Education buildings can be measured. It will act as a catalyst in the battle for an ecologically responsible built environment.
The RBC has been designed using well-established but innovative design techniques to minimize impact on the local and global environment both during construction and during occupation. At 200m2, the Gateway Building boasts the largest photovoltaic array in the Higher Education sector. It exemplifies the commitment of the College to the delivery of an environmentally responsible campus.
